Make Or Break a Shoot With This One Thing
There is one thing that I can always think back to that can make or break any shoot. Like many other things, it's connected back to the planning stage. A PrePro Deck. A good Pre Production Deck is crucial to helping you, your team and your Client get aligned and understand what the outcomes of your shoot will be.

TLDR; New Setup, You be you. I've got a new setup and I wanted to record something short and upload it. I'm ok if it's not perfect and you should be too. Also, go out a participate in some kind of creative challenge - and let that be the actual motivation. To CHALLENGE yourself to just make shit. #makeshit - don't do it for any other reason... or you. Tuesday Tips - Using Frequency Separation to Retouch a Portrait

This week I continue the conversation about FS and how I apply this technique with my portrait retouching. The goal for me when retouching a portrait is to make someone look their best - and not like someone else. Of course there are times when stylization is welcomed, but in general natural is best. Tuesday Tips - Color Harmony Composite Photo

This week I talk about how you can use color harmonies to help bring a composite together. I used an image shot by Tom Dewh @tomdewh as a base for my composite. The model @caitlinchristinee asked if I was interested in working with one of the images from their set. I used a background image from Josh Couch via unsplash.com to help bring this image together. But the real secret sauce was using c...

    Like so many other presenters, you seem to think that you need a repetitive, i.e. irritating, sound track competing with your voice in order for voice to be heard.

    Just keep in mind that those settings in apply image only works perfectly for 16 bit images. If you do this on a 8 bit image, you will see some shift in exposure and contrast.

    Hi Steve. My name is Jorge. I am a Photographer and I live in the city of Rosario, in Argentina. I want to congratulate you and thank you. Congratulations on your way of explaining concepts that were very difficult for me to understand. This is, without a doubt, the best video I've seen (and I've seen many) on Frequency Separation. You are an excellent teacher. And I want to thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge. Today I discovered this channel and I already subscribe and I will study your videos. Thank you so much!!! receive a cordial greeting from me. Jorge (George) (My English is not very good and I use Google translate. Sorry! 😅)

    Sorry for what I am about to say ... nevertheless, I simply do not understand why in the world you took SO long to muscle through a complex "technique", that through my eyes ... made no difference to the completed edited image from the way it looked at the very beginning of the video. What is the "fix" that was achieved? What was the "enhancement" that was achieved? What difference did all that work make, whether 8 bit OR 16 bit. I've watched this twice through and see no reason for the effort. It appears that the image looks exactly the same when finished, as it did before anything was done. Similar to this comment.

    • @randall42
      @randall42 Рік тому

      @Jay Sigal Frequency separation is a means to an end, not the end result in itself. The difference is that once you've separated the color information from the texture information, you can edit the color of something in your photo without losing any of the texture, and you can edit or remove some texture without affecting the color.
